Green Party puts forward its Poverty Action Plan

The Green Party has unveiled its Poverty Action Plan, which includes a Guaranteed Minimum Income to ensure people have enough to live with dignity. The scheme resets income support payments to ensure everyone not in full-time paid work gets at least $325 a week. People with kids or disability will receive extra support.

Last week, the opposition National Party announced three candidates, all standing in various electorates in Auckland, who belong to multicultural communities of New Zealand. Bala Beeram standing from Kelston is of Indian descent, while Nuwanthie Samarakone in Manurewa is of Sri Lankan descent and Agnes Loheni in Māngere is of Samoan descent.
