Wellingtonian Kiwi Indians have you got your ‘Clay Ganesha’ for Ganesh Chaturthi?

Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner, and it is marked as one of the important festivals in India. With festivities and preparations gaining pace, it would be a delight to inform the community of some note worthy creations of Ganpati Bapa.
One such is the ‘Clay Ganesha’ as the name suggests these beautiful idols are made of natural clay naturally sourced for New Zealand itself and painted with natural colours.
Initially started by Babitha and Jai Pavan in Wellington last year during the lockdown, this project was a huge success with the producers selling around 80 idols approximately in 3 days. And this success was not a result of any heavy marketing campaigns, just a simple social media post on Wellington Indian’s Facebook page.
This year we see ‘Clay Ganesha’ level up the basic initiative, where now if you purchase the Ganesha idol you get a kit where there is pot and seeds for you to do your bit to save the environment. Basically, theses ideals are designed in such a way that they grow into a plant after immersion.
This idea is bought to you by Saideep, the person now in charge of this project. Babitha and Jai are not in the country at the moment but their friend for 6 plus years, Saideep decided to carry forward the tradition and culture.

“It is my side hobby but me and my wife enjoy doing this, of course it is challenging while you manage this and your full-time job, but we have limited our order intake to a certain number”, says Saideep, who is taking orders for producing these idols and will discontinue with production once they hit their mark.
When inquired if the environmentally friendly ‘Clay Ganesha’ idol is available in Auckland also, to this the reply was “We are expanding and plan to deliver these to Auckland by next year, right now they are only available in Wellington.” explained Saideep.
Wellingtonian Kiwi Indians this is your chance to secure your idol for the Ganpati celebrations comping up in September. You can check more information about these on their Facebook page Clay Ganesha or email them at clayganeshaa@gmail.com - Vritti Parasher (Please note this story was written before the alert level 4 lockdown)
