‘Ugadi’ festival celebrated by Telugu & Kannad community

The festival of Ugadi was celebrated by Auckland’s Telugu and Kannad communities. One such celebration took place at the Dorothy Winstone Centre in Auckland organised by Mana Andhra Telugu Association, where more than 400 hundred people from all walks of life took part in the event. Several community leaders, political dignitaries and business leaders attended the cultural event filled with traditional singing and dance performances. Another event is going to take place in the coming weekend on Friday 16th April at Auckland War Memorial Hall by Telangana Associations.

Ugadi festival is celebrated as the first day of New Year by the people of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. This is also marked as start of new Samvatsara. Which is cycle of sixty years. -TIN Bureau (Picture courtesy: Chris Penk social media handle)
