Our heads go down in shame on even thinking of what happened in the afternoon of Republic Day, on 26 January in New Delhi. While on one hand the proud nation had barely finished watching the glorious marching contingents of armed forces and showcasing of different tableaus representing Indian states, their triumphs, and accomplishments. The anti-India forces on the other hand were waiting for this day and moment to show the world their true face, which they did and did it shamelessly, all this in the name of farmers agitation.

Millions of patriotic Indians who fought against the British empire and other several thousand brave hearts who sacrificed their lives to get independence from oppressive foreign rule and for the honour of the tri colour flag, would have never dreamt of their sacrifices meeting this fate. The Indian tricolour was uprooted from one of high minarets of Red Fort, to be thrown down and replaced with a flag wearing a religious symbol on it. The crowd of unruly agitators went on rampage and damaged anything that came in their way. The main entry door of Red Fort was broken down by the mob and then they ransacked the whole premises including looting the cash box and stealing some very important article of historic value from there. The sword and lathi wielding crowd mercilessly beat up and injured more than 400 Delhi police jawans, injuring many of them critically. The crowd damaged several vehicles and public properties on their way to Red Fort. For almost an hour this rampage continued in front of a stunned crowd of hundreds of media personals and thousands of people of that area, as the news of agitators entering Red Fort spread.

Armed Delhi police, that was deployed at the site, took all the beating and thrashing from the hooligans but did not take up to arms even in self-defence as they were instructed not to do so. They bore all the brunt of the unruly mob but foiled their motives by not responding to their provocative tactics. The leaders of this agitation had big plans to create a blood bath and mayhem in the national capital on Republic Day, so the world could take notice of the incident as atrocities of the government of India on agitating farmers, but they failed miserably in their attempts. In fact, by creating nuisance on the day of national importance, they lost sympathy and the support of some of the real farmers. Several farmer unions either disassociated themselves from the agitation or have called off their agitation after the incident. The common citizen of India feels being let down and deceived by the agitating unions of different parties as they had given an undertaking to Delhi police that they will not enter inside Delhi and take out their proposed tractor rally on the outer Ring road.

A large section of anti-establishment media of India got busy spreading lies and fake news even on such a sensitive matter of national importance. In one such instance, where a tractor driving youth tried hitting the barricades put by Delhi police to stop agitators from entering the city, went wrong. The tractor turned upside after hitting the barricades and the driver died instantly under the weight of the vehicle. This incident was shown live by many TV channels, but some media people still tried shamelessly to claim that the youth died from police firing which created further panic among the agitators. This fake news and lies spreaders are now under police scanner and being investigated.

It is really a matter of serious concern as why some people are so vulnerable to become puppets in hands of anti-India forces. Our identity is of an Indian, wherever on the planet we may live. If we cannot be faithful to our motherland than we cannot be faithful to ourselves. We should feel proud to be an Indian and should not do anything that makes us feel let down. -Yugal Parashar
