Shree Hanuman Mandir-A Hindu temple in north shore

The North Shore started as a European rural settlement which was reached by ferry services. This changed significantly with the construction of the Auckland Harbour Bridge in 1959, which opened up the Shore for Auckland expansion.

In late 1980s and early 2000s, Northshore saw a large growth in the Hindu population. There were no provisions for community worship.

North Shore had existed for 181 years before a place for Hindu worship unifying Hindus and providing a central place of worship, cultural activities and festivities was initiated and started.

A temple, Shree Sanatan Dharam Hanuman Mandir, was founded in April 2016 and gifted to the community by Shree Raghunandan Ji. A Mandir for all, a community center for everyone. It helps preserve our identity, furthers our education, and helps our youngsters to grow in our religion and culture.

Shree Hanuman Mandir is the only Hindu Temple in the North Shore and the only Mandir in New Zealand, dedicated to Hanuman Ji. Hindus can now go for their daily prayers, interpretation of Hindu scriptures, host religious events for their family or community and have fellowship communal gathering and partake in various recitals, participate in various yearly functions like Ram Navami, Krishna Ashtami, and Navratri.

Regular morning and evening services are provided by a very learned and qualified Acharya from Haridwar, who is always available to guide one in one’s religious and spiritual development.

Mandir management invites all members of public to join in regularly, to provide your valuable contribution, to enhance your own spirituality and help grow this local mandir. Your valuable presence and contributions are needed and appreciated to further realize the Mandir growth and projects. -TIN Bureau
