Kindness flows even in the lockdown

- Community oraganistaions come forward to help people in need of food and groceries in the difficult times of Covid-19

Several Indian community and religious organisations came forward to help those in need of help in the time of distress. As the country went in lockdown on 17th September, many community organisations swung into action to help the needy people with food and grocery parcels. During the current lockdown as well, Supreme Sikh Society NZ, led by its inspiring leader & President Daljit Singh took the lead and so far, have distributed over 6,000 food parcels. The Sikh organisation won hearts of many and the prestigious New Zealand Food Hero Award 2020, for their heroic work of food distribution during lockdown last year as well. Mr Daljit Singh told The Indian News that all the Sikh temples across New Zealand have been advised to distribute food parcel in their local areas too. This includes Gurudwara Sahib- North Shore, Gurudwara Sri Harkrishan Sahib, New Lynn, NZ Sikh Games & Food Stuff. The Shirdi Sai Mandir and Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust both based in Auckland suburb of Onehunga are also distributing food parcels. Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust will start their second drive soon. During their first drive they distributed more than 700 food parcels. Shanti Niwas General Manger Nilima Venkat advises members of public in need of food parcel, to contact them. -TIN Bureau
