Gopal Bhatia enthrals music lovers at ‘Magical Pancham’
Gopal Bhatia is the name synonym with the music lovers of New Zealand for a soulful, melodious, and captivating voice. Gopal proved his mettle once again on a pulsating, vociferous and enthralling musical evening at Magical Pancham on Saturday 11th June at the Sky City Theatre at Auckland CBD. As the name suggests, the show was dedicated to the legendry music stalwart singer, music director Rahul Dev Burman, who was fondly called Pancham Da. And what an evening it was, people just kept screaming and demanding after every performance for more. Each singer and performer put his/her heart out in front of a packed house at the Sky City theatre amid the sounds of constant clapping after every performance. This musical show was by far the best show of singing talent put together by Gopal Bhatia and his team.
At the Magical Pancham, Gopal Bhatia’s team included singers like Ravi M, Rachit Bhatia, Shweta Divekar, Jaysree Sitaraman, Arpita Chanda, Renuka Deshpande and the man himself. His team of musicians consisted of Hemant Thaker, Cloyd Dmello. Don Dilantha, Vishnu, Mithun, Araad, Shalain. Gopal Bhatia was the man behind the concept and direction and Balu Gopinath was the technical executive of the show. One of the major high points of the evening was the dance performance by Aida, a beautiful dancer of Iraqi descent, who made everyone present, dance to her steps and drew a standing ovation for her impeccable dance performance. She swirled to the tunes of famous Bollywood number Mehbooba...mehbooba from film Sholay and made the entire house dance with her. Viraf Toddywala accompanied her in the dance, playing as make dancer to her. This was Gopal Bhatia’s third consecutive sold out show at the Sky City theatre where hardly any other Indian show has taken place.
Gopal Bhatia has already announced his next show at the same venue on 30th July titled ‘Latasha’ aptly named after the great singing sister duo of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosale. This show was planned to host in 2021 when Lata Mangeshkar was still alive but couldn’t happen due to constant lockdowns happening due to Covid. Gopal Bhatia has organised a show in Auckland with legendary singer Asha Bhosale in 2011 which was a smash hit. ‘Latasha’ is already slotted to be a sold-out show as there are millions of fans of the melodious singing of these two legends world over, and there is no dearth of these music lovers in New Zealand also. -TIN Bureau
