Chinese New Year celebrations in NZ
The 2020 Happy Chinese New Year Gala Performance was successfully held at Skycity Theatre in Auckland over the weekend. On behalf of the Pacific Culture and Arts Exchange Centre, I would like to thank all the guests, performers, and volunteers, for making this event a great success. - Rachel Qi, Pacific Culture and Arts Exchange Centre, and Wellington Multicultural Council (pic credit)
I was delighted to attend the Chinese New Year celebration at Children’s Festival Multicultural Gala on January 25, at Isaac Royal Theatre, with the Mayor, Christchurch Central MP Duncan Webb, Consul-General Wang, OEC Candy, and other community leaders. Most of the performers were between 5 and 15 years of age, but the quality of performances were very high. There were Irish dances as well, along with the Chinese ones, making it truly a multicultural gala. Thanks to Christchurch Zhonghua Chinese Society, for organising this significant event. - Jimmy Chen, Christchurch City Councillor (pic credit)
